What is KasiConvocation?

KasiConvocation is a digital group-saving platform designed for South Africans who want to save money together in a transparent and secure way. Whether you’re part of a stokvel, burial society, investment group, or just saving for a goal with friends or family—we’ve built the tech to help you manage that better.

You create or join a stokvel or savings group on the app. Members contribute monthly, track progress, communicate, and manage funds all in one place. It’s like WhatsApp for stokvels but with your money secured and organized.

Yes. We take your security seriously. KasiConvocation uses OTP (One-Time Password) login verification, encrypted data storage, and soon, we’ll be adding biometric login options for added protection.

Our app is for anyone who wants to save money with other stokvels, families, colleagues, community groups, and even businesses. We also welcome financial educators and small businesses who want to offer products or services to saving groups.

Joining and creating a stokvel is free. We offer premium features at affordable rates in the future (e.g. data insights, advanced tools, advertising options for vendors).

WhatsApp is great for chatting, but it’s not built for saving. KasiConvocation offers built-in contribution tracking, role-based permissions, digital wallets, and automatic reminders—all the things that help keep your money organized and your group accountable.

Yes. Every group has a financial history log that tracks all deposits, withdrawals, approvals, and comments. You’ll never have to guess where the money went.

We’ve added automated notifications and contribution reports that help group admins identify inactive members. You can also vote to remove members or freeze participation based on your group rules.

Yes! Whether your group pays out monthly to a different member or saves for a common goal, our platform supports both fixed savings pools and rotating payouts with automated scheduling tools.

Yes, you can send invites via WhatsApp, SMS, or email—they’ll receive a link to download the app and join your group directly.

We built in group voting tools so members can vote on withdrawals, new members, or any proposal. That way, there’s transparency and everyone has a say.

Absolutely. Group creators can assign roles like admin, treasurer, or member, and each role has different permissions. You can also set up rules that everyone agrees to before contributing.

Once a group agrees to disband and votes to settle funds, the app will distribute the balance to all members (based on your group’s rules) and archive the group.

No. Funds are held securely through integrated payment partners. KasiConvocation only facilitates the visibility, tracking, and transaction flow, but doesn’t physically hold your money.

We are in the process of finalizing regulatory compliance, including partnering with licensed financial service providers (FSPs) for wallet and payment functionalities. We take compliance and security seriously.

Yes. Companies can create closed groups for staff, manage savings schemes, and even run incentive or welfare funds within a secure and transparent environment.

Our model includes transaction fees, optional premium features, and business tools for vendors and service providers. For example, stokvel-friendly businesses can advertise and offer products directly to groups via the app.

Yes. We offer white-labelling solutions for financial institutions, cooperatives, and funeral homes that want to digitize their group savings operations using our infrastructure. We’re also open to B2B sponsorships, affiliate partnerships, and cross-promotion deals.

Not yet but it’s on our roadmap. Right now, we’re focused on perfecting the mobile experience and onboarding users through Android and iOS.

Not at all. While stokvels are our main focus, we also support burial societies, investment clubs, travel groups, workplace saving schemes, and family fund circles. If you’re saving or pooling resources as a group, we’re built for you.

Right now, we’re focused on South Africa, but we’re planning expansion into Botswana, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria where informal group savings are culturally strong. Let us know where you’re based—your input could shape our rollout.

Yes. We host monthly webinars, create video tutorials, and offer one-on-one onboarding support for stokvels looking to fully transition to digital. We also provide playbooks for admins and treasurers to help simplify management.

We offer in-app educational content, savings challenges, live sessions, and a curated knowledge hub to help users understand financial planning, interest-building, digital fraud prevention, and investment basics.

Absolutely. One user can create or join multiple groups, each with its own wallet, members, and goals. This is ideal for individuals who participate in multiple savings circles.

We’re committed to data protection and compliance with South Africa’s POPIA laws. We use bank-grade encryption, require PIN authentication, and never sell your data to third parties.

Currently, we support OTT voucher, instant EFTs and card payments via integrated partners like Ozow. We’re working on adding debit order setups, mobile money, and crypto support in the near future.

Yes. Admins can generate and export PDF or CSV reports of transactions, member contributions, and voting outcomes. This helps with transparency, compliance, and record-keeping.

We have a built-in system for admin escalation and member voting. If necessary, the group can vote to transfer admin rights or initiate a support request to mediate.

Currently, we’re available in English, but we’re working on translating the app into Zulu, Sotho, Tswana, and Xhosa to support broader access and cultural relevance.

You can report users or groups directly in-app or email our support team. We take all reports seriously and investigate quickly with a resolution time of 48 hours or less.

Yes. KasiConvocation is a perfect fit for NGOs that manage community savings projects, village banks, or rotating credit groups. We can customize group roles and support scale implementation.

Not yet, but it’s on our near-term roadmap. For now, members receive reminders to contribute, and admins can track who has paid and who hasn’t in real-time.

We’re integrating basic KYC and group identity verification tools to help registered stokvels or cooperatives maintain records that align with formal FICA and SARS standards.
